In regular practical phases in the companies of the practice partners, students learn about process sequences and the complex relationships between functionality, costs and certification. In addition, they acquire practical skills by solving laboratory tasks on industry-related devices and systems. Graduates of the course are characterized by their ability to familiarize themselves efficiently with technologies, to transfer suitable methods to cases to be solved and to work as specialists in an interdisciplinary team.

The dual Bachelor's degree program teaches the basics of electrical engineering, mathematics, physics and computer science. The focus of the specialization is the design and implementation of communication-capable electronic systems for data acquisition, processing and output or control as well as data transmission. This requires practice-oriented training in analog and digital circuit technology, programming, communication and microcomputer technology, signal processing and electromedical technology as well as device design, taking into account industrial manufacturability, business aspects such as cost accounting and project implementation as well as electrical and functional safety. The internships that are part of the course deepen and consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired by means of concrete technical examples. In the 12-week practical phases that follow the 12-week theoretical phases, students apply the knowledge they have acquired and become familiar with industrial processes and the associated tool chain.

Production engineering is one of the classic engineering specializations in the fields of metal and electrical engineering and other branches of the manufacturing industry. The objective of the course is the planning and control of technological and economic production processes. In the new degree programme in Industrial Engineering and Management in Electrical Engineering, the competencies of the engineering degree programme in Electrical Engineering are combined in an interdisciplinary manner with the economics education in business administration.
